i hate it when they post pics of them taking apart their car. as if they actually know what they're doing.

"uh well um ... this must be the suspension-manifold-block-intake-type r-arm."
"thats the dipstick son."

That's not "sad". That's "stupid". Downshifting at 7000 RPMs? What a dumbass! He deserves to lose his car if he drives it like an idiot.

unless im mistaken...theres some sort of gate or something that prevents you from downshifting like that on accident.

#6, I first tried driving stick in a neighbor's Miata. Got it through first and second, but couldn't handle the shifter (I've gotten FAR better since then), so I hit 5th instead of 3rd and bogged it. So, my neighbor, who was sitting in the passenger's seat the whole time, told me to pop the clutch so he could try to find 3rd for me.

Instead, he managed to grab 1st at 40mph. You wouldn't believe how hard that car bucked forward when I let off the clutch (I immediately hit the clutch pedal again, for reasons that should be obvious). Lucky we didn't break something.

I'm just glad I haven't done that with any of the other cars I've driven.

I had an automatic '84 nissan truck that got bumped (by a passenger on purpose) into neutral. Being the DA 16 year old driver, I panicked and put it into Reverse! Did I mention we were going forward at 45? The truck stalled, and I pulled onto the side of the road. I thought for sure that I was screwed, but it started backup and drove just fine. Tough little bastard truck.

#1, *hey look, the engine is destroyed*... I mean for a new car like that, bring it somewhere and have then swap in a new engine - don't fug with it unless you know what you are doing...
