Good lord, I've eaten at the only McDonalds in San Ysidro (right near the border). OMFG scary. See July 18, 1984 1984.

thirtyseven: I've read about that before, and, IIRC, that specific McDonald's was bulldozed to the ground, and something else was built on the site, but I can't remember what... I think there's a memorial plaque type thing near the site also. |

There was a rash of restaurant/cafeteria shootings in the late 80's/Early 90's In 91' George Hennard drove a pickup through the front window of a cafetria in Texas, got out, and started shooting till he ran out of ammo, then killed himself after absorbing several shots from respoinding police officers, 22 other people died for absolutely no reason.
Much like school shootings today, one guy did one, and that caused all the other people in similar situations to think "Hey, that guy had the right idea, I'll show those bastards!"

| #2, I just read that it was bulldozed. South Western Community College now sits in the same spot. I guess there is a memorial in the parking lot according to my wife who was born and raised in South San Diego. Her great-grandmother used to pray for the victims there daily for many years. |

| May 15th, 2002..We've ate at this McD's several times. The guy even smashed some of the playground. It has been rebuilt and we still go there. |
