"Ho wanted a sleeper -- a wolf in lamb's clothing, and opted for a restrained JDM look built around a J-spec body kit. Aside from the panoply of gauges and the gutted rear of the cabin, the interior is as subdued as the exterior. As he explains: "I wanted a car that made a lot of power, but still looked really clean, very subtle, almost stock." Close enough."
That is anything but a sleeper

The worst part is on the first page: This guy makes an incredibly smug introduction talking about sub-9 second unibody street imports (nevermind that there's only one), and that imports are here to stay and detroit fans should "deal with it".
Right. Sports cars and track racing are one thing, but these guys like to go to dragstrips and pretend that they're "next generation hot-rodders." They need to understand that when it comes to traditional hot-rodding, these so called "next generation cars" are a major step BACKWARDS. They're just slower. Period. |

He claims to be cramming 26psi into a B18C; I'm rather curious what he had to do to make that possible. |

"Car class: Front-wheel-drive dragster. Ho's goal is to create the fastest street-legal Civic in the world, and he will sacrifice anything, including the ability to carry other passengers, to meet that goal. "
bwahahaha...
you can run 9s with a Grand National built in '86-'87 with full street trim... power windows, seats, etc. and still drive it down the street... |

Interesting, but you'll have to keep in mind that pretty much all magazines write stories with the assumption that every reader has millions of dollars under his/her disposal. The simple truth is that making any FWD import go that fast is going to be financially unfeasible, and, furthermore, it just isn't going to look that good, AND FURTHERMORE, when you push technology and speed to the absolute maximum, look who wins out. Big V8. Rear-wheel drive. No other way about it. |

Really, putting aside financial issues, pulling 600 HP out of a damn honda is impressive. I think your view on this article as being misinformed is your own personal bias. I agree the import thing is deffintily here to stay, and the number of enthusiast can prove this. |

#12 - see #10. we're not saying it is impossible to get 600hp out of 1.6L, there are just cheaper and better (not to mention safer) ways of going fast. FWD is not one of them. |

#13, #13-I agree, there is deffinitly much better ways to get 600 horses out of a car. I was just giving a little (not much but a little) credit being 600 HP on a little Honda is a little impresive considering the weight to power ratio. The money involved though is in no way worth it! Plus I would think he would have to do some serious reinforcement of his drive shaft and such as this thing is in no way built to handle that many ponies. |
